Furniture.... Odd I know. (A.C.T. idea)
Recently I thought back to FFXI, that somewhat crappy MMORPG that many have played. Now I liked thier "homes", you could craft furniture and such and put it in them. My idea (hope Arena Net thinks about this one). Is to have a furniture crafter in every major city. You can make anything from chairs to couches and have the option of guild logo's on them... You could stack like 5 chairs in one inva slot, maybe... Anyways, you could set these up anywhere you like, and players could easily walk right through them so it wouldn't mess up the city or outpost, to sit you mearly double click on the chair and you eather auto sit or a menu pops up asking if you want to pick up the chair (place in inva), or sit in it. Same applies with couches and such. I mainly want this for giving people a place to sit in organized activities. Also, maybe add "Homes" where people can store extra items and decorate as they see fit. I know this is a lot of work to do for "nothing", but I feel it is the little things that keep me coming back. If you guys don't know, I am head of the A.C.T. We are a guild that perform plays and host organized activities. I just feel it would give a greater since to the feel of towns and cities if you seen a designated place with chairs for a play. As I said before, whole lot a of work for one guys idea, but I can dream right?

Good idea, but I doubt it'd make it into the game... at least not for the next two expansions or so. Anet is probably busy with something else.
Although... *crosses fingers*

Hah. I can't wait to see my framerate slow down to a crawl because some outstanding fellow has bought up a million chairs and stacked them so tight you can't see below your waist.
When refining an idea, always consider the maximum potential for abuse, because that's what you would get.

I can't imagine carrying 5 stacked chairs in an belt pouch...
However, if you could invite others to your guild hall, or open the guild hall to all players in a district (coolness!) then you could make use of furniture there.
Except for the storage problem I think its' a fantastic idea.

This would be a really fun way to have player meetings. I wouldn't say that one person could drop multiple chairs, though. They could be readily available, and you just plop yours down and sit. When you get up, it goes back into your inventory. Things like couches could be shared.
Just a thought.

I wouldn't like to see the furniture in regular towns (imagine a flood of chairs in Lion's Arch all by the storage area, where the sellers got too lazy to stand on their own two feet lol).
I do remember FFXI though and furniture crafting. Some furniture was just for looks (such as the vase & flower), but there were others that had functionality, such as extra 2 spaces storage, or extra 5 spaces storage (cost more money).
Maybe one day, the devs can introduce furniture for the guild hall - some to add guild storage, others like chairs just so guild members could sit and chat.
I think a home would be a lot of planning, but if they ever do implement homes, they should be another money sink for the economy, and maybe it could be on one of the other many islands near kryta. Perhaps the home can give you 10 extra slots storage space (account based), which can be expanded to 25 if you buy furniture like chests & cabinets. And to somehow make it fit into the game, maybe you could have a choice of 5 styles of homes to purchase, each one with a design based on one of the old gods (dwayna, balthazar, grenth, lyssa, melandru). Mini personal shrines to them, with functionality for yourself.

I would love to buy my own home. But I think that, rather than limiting them to just the Kryta area, one should be able to put their home in one of many areas (this would also make overall appearance change, thus adding to the customization aspect). For example, you could put your home in Kryta, Ascalon, the Shiverpeaks, the Maguuma, the Desert, etc. I would also see the ability to put Guild Halls in different places as well, but this seems less viable and highly unlikely.
I also enjoy the idea of personal shrines and furniture in the houses. I also think you should be able to invite guests into your house... and possibly serve tea or something? Anything is possible, and it would create an excellent money sink.

Ah, yet another one who only thinks the worst about every idea... If that person is willing to sit there and go though the trouble to buy that many damn chairs they have some really serious problems, that should be examined by a professional counselor! LMAO! Well, all they have to do is limit the amount of chairs, tables, whatever you can buy and/or put in a room... Gee, that fixes the problem of abuse doesn't it!?

Yea furniture would be awesome but having it in town? I agree with DarrenJasper that it would be abused and slow the game down alot.
It should only be only in guild halls or houses

Well I hope you didn't want to put any chairs down, then. Because you won't ever get to.

One chair per person and one table per group. This would limit the potential for abuse.

One problem, even that would clutter up the areas like crazy. Perhaps something similar to the armchair from Phantasy Star Online where it is only their for you to sit on and is in effect just an emote?

Houses on Guild Islands, simple. You collect wood/granite slabs/other materials and you craft your home. You then craft everything in it.
